Have Questions?
Here are some common questions to help you learn your way around the library program.
When is the library open?
The library is open from 8:00am - 3:00pm on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. The library opens at 7:30 on Tuesday.
Our library operates on a flexible schedule which means--no more waiting until library day--students can come to the library whenever they want or need! Teachers can schedule the librarian for lessons. However, small groups, individuals and classes can all visit the library anytime for book exchanges!

How can I contact the librarian?
By email: biamontt@friscoisd.org
By phone: 469-633-3686
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How many books can I check out?
Kindergarten students = one book
1st-2nd graders = two books
3rd-5th = two or three books
If there is a special assignment in class, students may be allowed to check out extra items. Books can and should go home to read with family each night.
**Students in 3rd-5th grade may check out a magazine in place of one book as long as there are no overdue books out.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When are books due?
All books are due when you have read them through! Some students choose long books that take a couple of weeks to read, other students like shorter books that may only take a day or two to read. Please return books as soon as you are finished, since others may be waiting to read them.
The computer marks all items overdue that are kept out for more than two weeks. If you would like to keep any items longer than two weeks please come to the library to renew them. The library does not charge fines for overdue items.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What happens if an item from the library is lost or damaged?
Lost books must be paid for in order to clear student records. Students will be asked to send money for lost and damaged items depending on the repair or replacement cost. Only cash is accepted for payment of $20.00 or less.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What reading programs does the library sponsor?
Special reading encouragement programs are offered throughout the year for all students. Visit the Library Programs page of this Web site for more information on the Bluebonnet Club, Read It Forward, 2X2's, and more! The library also runs two book fairs with PTA in November and March.

What do students learn in the library?
Research shows that children learn best when they can access information at the point-of-need. Our library program is an extension of the classroom and information skills are taught within the context of the classroom curriculum. All students in kindergarten through 5th grade participate in research units planned cooperatively with teachers and the librarian to learn library skills as they are learn curriculum-related information. This integration strengthens the teaching and learning process allowing students to develop the skills necessary to locate, analyze, evaluate, interpret, and communicate information and ideas.

How do I know what books my child is reading or has out?
Each student is given an ID# from Frisco ISD. With this number, you or your child may access the HIP and look at the # of books checked out of the library, the titles of the books, learn when the books are due, renew books before they become overdue, and request a book for future checkouts. (Click on the Catalog tab located on the Home Page for more directions.)
