Eleven by Patricia Reilly Giff
(3rd-6th) The picture on the front of this book caused me to pick it up and read it. The mysterious plot kept me reading. Sam is about to celebrate his eleventh birthday. While searching in the attic for a sneak peak at his birthday presents, he makes a startling discovery. There in the attic is a locked box with a piece of paper sticking out of it. On the paper is a picture of Sam when he is young. However, he realizes that the last name is different. There is more writing on the paper, but Sam is unable to read it because of his severe dyslexia. As a result of his desire to solve this mystery, he befriends a new girl in town who just happens to be an excellent reader. Together, they piece together the facts of Sam's past. If you are looking for a great mystery, this is the book for you.
