This week in the library we read I Ain't Gonna Paint No More by Karen Beaumont. This book begins with a picture of a little boy who loves to paint so much that he has painted pictures on the floor, ceiling, walls, curtains, and door. His activity is quickly halted when he is discovered by his mom. Vowing to never paint again, the little boy quickly succumbs to his urges to paint again. This time he begins painting his body, starting with his head. He has almost painted his entire body when he is interrupted by his mom.
After reading this book aloud to kindergarten through second grade, students painted their own hands (well a drawing of it anyway). The classroom teacher and I traced each student's hand on a half sheet of cardstock, and then students painted it. Their creations were amazing!
