Each page contains an animal created out of varying shapes of hearts along with a simile that expresses a character trait related to the animal. Examples include "cool as a penguin," "thoughtful as an owl," and "chatty as a jay." Younger students injoyed identifying an animal/character trait that describes them and creating their own animal out of a heart. Older students enjoyed writing similes and then illustrating them.
